Erinvale is one of South Africa’s greatest golf challenges. Designed by Gary Player it hosted the 1996 World Cup of Golf, the SAA open in both 2003 and 2004 and most recently hosted the South African Disabled Open.
This undulating, densely wooded course is an established favourite with the local market because of it’s scenic setting and memorable layout. A definite play when visiting the Garden Route.
The Montagu Course was originally designed by Gary Player and is a much celebrated parklands course that has previously been ranked as #1 in South Africa, and currently ranks #6 (2014).
Outeniqua, named after the mountain range that overlooks the area has a different look than the Montagu, so they complement each other perfectly as varying playing experiences.
Pearl Valley has two signature holes, 4th and 13th, both offering majestic views of the surrounding mountains and lakes. The 4th hole is as challenging, with limited margin for error as you need to cross the creek three times en route to a tricky green. This par 5 is regularly listed as one of the best par 5’s in South Africa, epitomising the ideals of ‘risk and reward’. The 13th hole is a daunting par 3. As the water cuts from the right and a greenside bunker waits, one is mesmerised by the cautious tee shot. This hole tests both your ball striking and your nerve.
Royal Cape is a classic parklands course that provides a fine test of golf as well as a wonderful playing experience. The course is in superb year round condition with well grassed fairways, smooth greens and challenging bunkers.
