Royal Cape Golf Course

Feel the allure of the oldest golf course in South Africa. The Royal Cape Golf Club was founded in 1885 and lies in the shadow of Table Mountain. As stated on their website Royal Cape is a traditional parkland course, with narrow fairways and a fairly level layout. The trees that border the course severely penalise errant shots. At some holes, creeks and ponds come into play. The 440-yard, par four 14th hole, which is surrounded by two par threes, is one of the toughest in the whole country. Not many golfers leave this course with a par score on their card because it’s a right dogleg that’s typically played into the dominant wind and has water shielding the front right side of the green. It is ranked 39th of the top 100 courses.
