Houghton, which has already celebrated its centenary, was founded in 1923. It is a well-known club with a strong and proud reputation that is ranked 30th of the top 100 courses of South Africa. The parkland design is dotted with ponds and dams, and an abundance of flowering shrubs gives a great deal of colour and variation. The greenbelt of The Wilds is adjacent to the course, which is a wonderful addition to Johannesburg’s natural wildlife and plants. A variety of ducks, Egyptian geese, guinea fowl, dikkops, and plovers may be found there, and it is also a certified bird sanctuary.
