GOLF IN SOUTH AFRICA.COM LAUNCHES PLAYERS’ CLUB
Keen golfers in main centres country-wide now have another option available to them to practise their favourite sport with the launch on 1st July of the “Golf in South Africa” (GISA)Players’ Club. The Club will play monthly in Cape Town and Johannesburg, with games in Durban to be added depending on demand. December and January are excluded. Each month’s game will be at a different club.
Comments Managing Director of “Golf in South Africa”, Bjorn van Oort; “Many affiliated golfers would love to play at different clubs on a regular basis and for social golfers, joining a club like this, means they can get in some regular practise and hopefully later join an official club. In this way we hope to grow the eventual pool of affiliated golfers as well.”
“After running a similar club in the Western Cape over the past ten years, I know that this is a fantastic opportunity to network. Corporate membership packages are available for 4 members or more,” van Oort said.
Players will be given a club handicap and will be able to track their progress on the GISA website. An annual club championship will take place in each of the centres in July.
Other benefits include the opportunity to participate in two annual golf tours in Southern Africa and an international trip to a golfing destination. Furthermore, special deals will be arranged for members to attend golfing events like the SA Open and the Nedbank Million Dollar Golf Challenge.
Membership fees are R500 per annum which includes a branded GISA golf shirt and access to all games, tours, trips and special deals. A group rate will be negotiated with individual golf clubs for each game and prizes are included. This is a social golf club established to create an opportunity for golfers to play different courses on a monthly basis, network for different businesses and make new friends. Initially courses will be booked in Cape Town and Gauteng, with KZN to follow depending on interest.
Anybody who is serious about golf! If you’re starting out, this will give you an opportunity to practise, and if you already play, this is a way to experience different courses on a regular basis.
Private – as an individual by signing up through the website
Corporate – as a corporate group with a minimum of four (4) memberships, which will allow rotation of players for different games.

Game fees: Up-front by electronic transfer at least seven (7) days prior to scheduled game.
A cancellation fee of R50 will be payable before three days prior to scheduled game. After that, no re-funds will be applicable. Should the scheduled game be cancelled due to course management closing the course for the day or for any other unforeseen reasons, players will be credited.
Local or international guests or visitors can be accommodated at an additional cost of R50 per game. Members from all regions can play at any of the games arranged in any of the centres i.e. Cape Town, Johannesburg & Durban. Membership can be cancelled at any time, but no re-funds will be made other than for cancelled games which have already been paid. The organiser is Bjorn van Oort. Bjorn has been in charge of a social club for the past 10 years in Cape Town and has been on the management team at Stellenbosch Golf Club. He is Managing Director of Golf in South Africa and organises golf tours and corporate and charity golf days. He is a member at Paarl Golf Club and has a current handicap of 12/9.
